In 2002, I started my own practice
with a simple set of philosophies based upon my experiences as a lawyer over the previous twelve years in criminal, family,
business, real estate, personal injury, employment, civil rights, and real estate law:
1. The job of an
attorney is to minimize overall costs through thoughtful, "what if" advice and careful drafting of court documents
and agreements with the client's long-term goals in mind. 2.
Stick with what you know about, and earn a fair fee for fair representation. I know about criminal defense, drug crimes,
sex crimes, felonies, misdemeanors, divorce, custody, business, empoyment, civil rights, real estate and grandparent's rights.
3. Tell clients what they need to hear, not just what they want to hear. Often clients facing criminal
charges such as drug crimes, DUI, DWP, or serious felonies, or clients going through a divorce or custody dispute need to
hear things they do not want to hear. I will be straight with you.
4. Too many criminal defense, family
and business lawyers make things worse by unnecesarily inflaming their client's already difficult emotions just to make money.
When you are facing a DUI, DWP, divorce, custody, or business or real estate contract or boundary dispute, it is hard not
to feel nervous. I will calm you down and help you make the right decisions.
5. Make peace when it is
right - fight hard when it is not, especially when you are charged with a crime, fighting for custody or visitation, or protecting
your home or business.
6. Children should never
be used as tools in a divorce or custody case. 7. Police make mistakes,
and everyone deserves aggressive representation.
